Those Who Fear Him

The eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love Psalm 33:18

I ask you these questions. . . are the eyes of the LORD on you? Are you one of those who fear him? Are you one of those whose hope is in his unfailing love?

Each of us must search our own hearts to answer these questions. Multitudes of people believe in Jesus, call themselves a Christian, go to church on Sunday, attend a Bible study on occasion, but how many are those who fear the Lord – reverence him, honor him, praise him and obey him?

Praise the LORD. Blessed are those who fear the LORD, who find great delight in his commands. Psalm 112:1

Do you find great delight in his commands?

Did you know . . .

  • The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them (Psalm 25:14)
  • The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them (Psalm 34:7)
  • Those who fear him lack nothing (Psalm 34:9b)
  • His salvation is near those who fear him (Psalm 85:9a)
  • Great is his love for those who fear him (Psalm 103:11b)
  • As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him (Psalm 103:13)
  • That from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children – (Psalm 103:17)
  • He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever (Psalm 111:5)
  • He will bless those who fear him – small and great alike (Psalm 115:13)
  • He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them (Psalm 145:19)
  • The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love (Psalm 147.11)
  • His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation (Luke 1:50)

How can you be assured that you truly fear the Lord?

Proverbs 2:1-5 will give you the answer . . .

My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
indeed, if you call out for insight
    and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.

Let those who fear the Lord say: “His love endures forever”. Psalm 118:4
