It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 3 John 3-4
In the Scripture above, John said it gave him great joy that those he had ministered to were walking in faithfulness to the truth; that they continued to walk in it! And he had no greater joy than to hear that his children were walking in the truth.
Walking in faithfulness to the truth. Walking in the truth. What does that mean to you? Take a few minutes to think about that.
My thoughts lead me to Jesus, who is the truth. Jesus is the Word made flesh, so the Word is truth. So faithfulness to the truth, to me, means faithfulness to Jesus and to the Word, and walking as Jesus walked – yielding my life to the Holy Spirit.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Proverb 3:3-4
When we walk in faithfulness to the truth, God in his faithfulness watches over us in every way. In his faithfulness he loves us, teaches us and guides us. In his faithfulness he protects us and provides for us. In his faithfulness he forgives us, shows us his mercy, his compassion and his kindness. In his faithfulness he died for us and saved our souls from eternal torment. How great is his faithfulness!
Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord. Psalm 117:1-2
Let it be the desire of your heart to walk in faithfulness to the truth. Live by the Spirit and bear the good fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23a)
This week, discuss walking in faithfulness to the truth in your communities – and Praise the Lord for his faithfulness toward each of us.
