Principalities and Powers

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

God admonishes us in Ephesians 6:10 & 11 to be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. He tells us to put on the full armor of God so that we can take our stand against the devil’s schemes.

There is a spiritual war going on for the souls of mankind.

The current divisions in our country and around the world, open pedophilia and cannibalism, infanticide and euthanasia and the indoctrination of our children to alternative sexual lifestyles, prove that a spiritual battle is brewing as never before. There are evil principalities and powers and rulers of the darkness who are taking control in all areas of life. It is becoming extreme!

Both God and Satan operate in the earth through people.

After the Lord was crucified for our sin, he sent the power of his Holy Spirit to indwell believers, which gives us authority over the power of Satan and his demons. God has put believers here to come against these evil powers. But God will not work without us. It is the same for the enemy. Everything evil that happens in the world comes through evil people and those who have sold their souls to the devil.

Why does it seem that evil is winning the battle?

Why? We must ask ourselves this question. Where are the believers standing against this evil? Where are the believers who are ready to put on their armor and fight this spiritual battle on God’s behalf? Have we become weak and lazy? Are we too comfortable? Or have our hearts grown cold?

In Matthew 24:12 Jesus tells us:

Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold

He also encourages us in 24:13

but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

We have to remember:

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4

We are to love the person, but hate the evil behind them. We have to walk in the power of the Spirit and in love, for where love is, Satan cannot be. But how will anyone know the love of God if we are not there in the midst of the battle?

It’s time we put on our spiritual armor and join the battle!

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:13-18
