The Need for Salvation

Who can say ” I have kept myself pure, I am clean and without sin.”? Proverbs 20:9

God’s Word, the Bible, declares emphatically that all of mankind are sinners. But as Isaiah 64:6 teaches us:

All of us have become like one unclean, and all of our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

All mankind is under sin – there is no one righteous, not even one. [Romans 3:9-10]

The whole world will be held accountable to God. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. [Romans 3:23]

Because of this, all mankind is under the sentence of death!

For the wages of sin is death. [Romans 6:23]

Sin when it is full-grown gives birth to death [James 1:15]

There is nothing anyone can do to save themselves! No matter the amount of good works you do, or no matter what a good person you think you are!

For it is by grace you have been saved through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is a gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. [Ephesians 2:8-9]

Salvation is a free gift from God. The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ made this free gift of salvation available, and the only way to receive salvation is to have faith in Jesus, and what he did by giving himself as a sacrifice for your sin.

But ‘saving faith’ in Jesus includes obedience to his gospel and applying his gospel to our lives.
