Is Your Name Written in the Book of Life?

Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15

You don’t hear much preaching or teaching on the “lake of fire” these days.  Why do you think that is?  Are we living in the time when we will not put up with sound doctrine but instead, to suit our own desires, we gather around us a great number of teachers to say “what our itching ears want to hear”?  Are we turning our ears away from the truth and turning aside to myths? (2 Timothy 4:3,4)

Jesus himself warns to watch out that no one deceives you. (Matthew 24:4)

In these last days many false prophets will appear and deceive many people, and because of the increase in wickedness the love of most will grow cold.  (Matthew 24:11,12)

Revelation 20:11-15 show us clearly that there will be a day when the dead will be judged according to what they have done as recorded in God’s books.  The lake of fire is the second death.

The day is coming when there will be a new heaven and a new earth (Revelation 21:1)  Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. (Revelation 21:27)

Jesus gave his life for our  life – so all who believe in him can be saved from hell.

Now that is good news!

God’s word is true. He wants ALL people to come to a knowledge of who he is so they can be saved. (1 Timothy 2:4) But they need to hear the truth.  How can they be saved from judgment and the eternal fires of hell if they do not hear about, or even believe that there is a hell?

It’s time to stop being concerned about being “Politically Correct”. It’s time for the body of Christ, the true church of Jesus Christ, to stand boldly for the truth of God’s word! Do not be deceived! Do not let your love grow cold.

Hell is real. Hell is eternal – eternal separation from a loving God, who made a way for ALL  to be saved from it.

God loves all of his creation.  So should we!  How can we show all people God’s love?

Maybe we need to start asking this question: Is your name written in the book of life?  Then ask: Did you know, if anyone’s name is not found written in the book of life, they will be thrown into the lake of fire, that this is the second death?  Then share the truth: But there is good news – Jesus saves!

Discuss this topic in your fellowship groups this week.  Let’s really discuss the topic of hell and eternal separation from God – and what a terrible thing it is that anyone should have to go there!  Discuss how grateful you are that someone shared the good news with you.
