In the Last Days

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,  without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,  treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—  having a form of godliness but denying its power. 2 Timothy 3:1-5

Wow, the Scripture above sounds like the headlines around the world today!  What do you think?

Do you ever feel like your heart is hard because of all the evil in the world around you today?  It is so easy just to retreat into our own safe space and hope that some day soon “they” will take care of things.  But . . . who are “they”?

Have we the church, the body of Christ, failed our society?  Are we impacting our world in a positive way for Jesus Christ?

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?  Romans 10:14

I must confess, I know I could do more.  How about you?

Jesus called all believers to be bright and shining lights in this dark world.  You and I might not be called to have a preaching platform or a large worldwide ministry, but we can each do our part to be a true reflection of Jesus in this world right where we are.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:14-16

In these last days, it is time for believers to be the OPPOSITE of 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

Let’s all be:

  • Lovers of others
  • Generous
  • Respectful
  • Humble
  • Comforting
  • Obedient to parents
  • Grateful
  • Holy
  • Loving
  • Forgiving
  • Slow to speak
  • Self-controlled
  • Gentle & kind
  • Lovers of good & right
  • People of integrity
  • Patient
  • Merciful & compassionate
  • Lovers of God
  • Full of the Spirit
  • Walking in Power

Everyone is looking for peace and comfort and they will never find it in this world – it is found only in a relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord. But how will they know if you don’t show them and share with them a different way?  Let’s not be hard hearted.  Let’s let our heart of love shine brightly.  I’m ready!  Will you join me?

The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. Proverbs 4:18
