I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 11:19
Jesus came to change the hearts of mankind and their relationship with the Father.
The condition of your heart is critical to your walk with God and in your relationships with others.
In the scripture above Ezekiel prophesied (foretold) of the coming of Jesus, and that with him would come a time when God would change our hearts. That prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus gave his life on the cross, and on the day of Pentecost when he sent his Holy Spirit. Believers can now have an undivided heart and a new spirit if they choose to love, serve and obey Jesus as their Lord.
Jesus may be your Savior, but is Jesus truly your Lord? Lord of your thoughts, words and actions? Lord of your heart?
There are so many things in the world today to divide our hearts. So many things in the world that contaminate our spirits. Even as believers we struggle with all the distractions of this world.
What we have to remember is that we are at war, and our enemy knows how to divide.
-
Our hearts are divided
-
Our homes are divided
-
Our nation is divided
-
Our world is divided
-
Even our churches are divided
Jesus warned us in Matthew 12:25
“Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.
And in Mark 3:25
If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
Only by having an undivided heart, yielding ourselves to our Lord Jesus and the power of his Spirit can we have the strength to stand against our enemy. And we must stand united. We must become true communities of the heart, united together in love for one another or we will not stand. How do we do this? We must pray!
Teach me your way, Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name.
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;
I will glorify your name forever. Psalm 86:11,12
And as we are admonished in 1 Corinthians 1:10
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
I encourage you today, go and find just one other person with whom you can begin to share your heart and your life. Someone with whom you can be perfectly united in Christ’s love!
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16
Do you have an undivided heart?
